Stefan received his Master's degree in Computer Science from University of Karlsruhe in May 2008.
Before his graduation from University of Karlsruhe Stefan did his Master's Thesis at the National Biocomputation Center at Stanford University. This Center is a collaboration between NASA and Stanford University to develop advanced technologies for next-generation medicine, including computer-based surgical planning, intraoperative assistance systems, surgical simulators, anatomical atlases, as well as wireless telemedicine and telemetry.
From the last year of his University program on Stefan has worked as a freelancer in the Medical Simulation and Medical Image Processing field. He has done software development projects as an external consultant for SimQuest LLC. At SimQuest he planned and developed several surgical simulators.
Stefan joined the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery (ICCAS) in March 2009 as a research associate. His main research goals were: Medical Image Segmentation, Navigation, Intra-operative assistance systems and pre-operative planning
Surgical Simulation, Computer Graphics, Medical Image Segmentation, Intra-operative Navigation, Pre-operative Planning and Medical Data Visualisation.
