I am a hotel turn-around expert providing hands-on business expertise to maximize profit for hotels.

Practical, goal-orientated and results driven I implement sensible business management for hotels with a keen focus on ROI of real estate by optimizing property revenue and operating cost.

My professional back-ground is development and management of 5-star independent luxury hotels as well as 4-star mid-market chain hotels, as General Manager of managed, franchised and leased properties in Europe, and the Russian Federation.

I am Dutch-born, educated in Switzerland, based in Vienna (Austria) and have grown my career in central & (south-) eastern Europe.

Currently I manage 2 projects; one supervisory management assignment in Sochi (350 keys - Russia) and 1 turn-around project on the Isle of Krk (100 keys - Croatia).

TATRA MOUNTAIN RESORTS / Slovakia
Business review of 5 full service resorts in northern Slovakia;
Identification and recommendation of immediate business opportunities
in hotel operations and marketing / sales / revenue management how
to optimize operational profit (G.O.P.);
Preparation of a Business Plan flash, including a 5-year P&L flash estimate
down to EBITDA, REVMAX by G&A™ flash, FTE flash (staffing) and F&B
flash (re-engineering of food offering and clustering F&B purchasing).

CHATEAU BELA / Slovakia
Interim hotel operating management agreement of a 5-star luxury Chateau;
Implementation of REVMAX by G&A™, based on a product repositioning
from a standard bed & breakfast hotel into a luxury Mansion with its own
vineyard – with essence on MICE sales;
Re-engineering of hotel services – being Food & Beverage and Spa
by simplifying service delivery and optimizing operating cost;
Implementation of standard hotel accounting (USALI), allowing
for transparency in financial performance.
Highlight: Improved G.O.P. conversion by 180 % within 6 months.

OLYMPIC HOTEL SOCHI / Russian Federation
Supervisory management agreement of a 3-star Soviet style Sanatorium;
Hire and training of a full hotel EXCOM team;
Implementation of REVMAX by G&A™, based on a product repositioning
from a state pension fund Sanatorium hotel into an international mid-market
3-star full-service hotel – with essence on MICE sales;
Re-organization of hotel operations, based on downsizing annual manning
from 285 FTE to 150 FTE;
Re-engineering of services – being Food & Beverage and Medical Spa
by simplifying service delivery and optimizing operating cost;
Implementation of standard hotel accounting (USALI), allowing for
transparency in financial performance.
Highlight: Improved G.O.P. by 23 % in the first quarter 2013 (low season).

RAIFFEISEN LEASING REAL ESTATE / Czech Republic
Operational due diligence review of a 3-star 150 keys city-hotel, on behalf
of Cushman & Wakefield;
Identification and recommendation of the optimal scenario how to proceed
regarding a defaulted leasing financing;
Preparation of a Business Plan, including a REVMAX by G&A™ strategy
how to re-position the property, a 5-year P&L estimate down to EBITDA,
and a FTE strategy (staffing);
Evaluation of business performance by new lease-hold party;
Preparation of a Business Plan benchmark to serve annual operating
budget negotiation by the hotel owning party with the hotel operator
– in full P&L format.

WIDESHOT DESIGN / Austria
Preparation of renovation and refurbishment criteria for a 350 keys property
(2 buildings), in line with national categorization standards while
incorporating soft branding standards (in line with international operators)
as well as optimal utilisation of available space for commercial use.

SOCHI PLAZA HOTEL / Russian Federation
General and practical advice on international best-practice regarding
management agreements, design of accommodation, energy utilization
and optimization to a minority stake-holder of hotel properties located
in the “Sochi Olympic Project 2014” operated by various international hotel
operators, such as Interstate.
