Every second company (of the whole world) is planning to invest more in the security of their IT next year. In his annual study about financial fraud, Kroll reported: Skimming is now the biggest risk of all.
In the worst case skimming can even ruin companies. Kroll said: “The most successful parasites don’t kill their hosts but live from their energy”. That means, skimming can happen for years and stay unnoticed until the day the big bang happens.

88 percent of the worldwide surveyed organizations were affected by crimes in the last year – usually in a small dimension.
The total damage amounts to about 1.7 billion U.S. dollars – one fifth more than in 2009.

The IT is now the most vulnerable point in economy. Information theft is the most frequently committed crime against companies of all. This year, there were even more data than physical thefts, according to Kroll. The attack on data or on intellectual property has increased from 18% to 27, 3% since 2009.

Financial and personnel services are particularly popular victims of data thieves. However, in other industries it is not much better. More than a third of the respondents said that they would be quite vulnerable in a case of skimming.

To sum up, one could say that poorly secured IT systems are a high risk which should not be underestimated.
What do you think? Perhaps you have already become a victim of a fraud?
